Meet on the boardwalk in front of the gazebo which is at the intersection of Broadway and Ocean Ave.\, Ocean Grove (part of Neptune) Plenty of free parking in the area on Broadway – north side of the lake by the Park. We’ll walk thru Convention Hall\, pass the dog beach and around deal lake and return. \nDinner spot will be Rice Asian Cuisine\, .They have it all – sushi\, thai and chinese and very good and fair prices too. SUMMARY:3 mi. Sandy Hook Beach Seal n Meal Walk #2
DESCRIPTION:TIn case yo missed last one\, this is our second and final one for the year most likely.\nWe do this one every year. Let’s see the critters before they depart for the spring. Seals should be around today\, if not too windy – theyr’e fussy that way I’m told. They don’t like to rest when there’s a lot of waves due to the wind. End of March should work. We’ll meet at parking lot at 67 Hartshorne Drive which should say “Seal Parking.” Also can use parking lot at Post Chapel across street at 35 Hartshorne Drive. There should be a porta pottie nearby but use Lot B bathrooms on way in to be sure.The Mule Barn close by has bathrooms and the Lighthouse area.We’ll do a walk exploring the proving ground and village and lighthouse area and a nice beach area with some ruins and great views of Sandy Hook Bay. Then we”ll look for seals & subs Afterward we’ll head over to the Mule Barn Tavern for lunch for those interested.
