Summer Jazz Cafe with Brandon McCune Quintet, Triumph Brewing, Red Bank

This is the 3rd week for the summer jazz cafe series whieh we do every year brought to you by Jazz Arts Project which produces this and other jazz  events around Red Bank and also teaches kids jazz.

“Chicago native and pianist Brandon McCune joins the Summer Jazz Cafe lineup for a night of soulful music. As a professional musician— piano, organ, drums, trumpet, bass, vocals, and choir director— he has worked as a band leader, music director, or as a sideman for artists such as Abbey Lincoln, Terence Blanchard, Nneena Freelon, Betty Carter, Miki Howard, Wynton Marsalis, Bruce Williams, Chrisette Michele, Ted Dunbar, Larry Ridley, Russell Malone, Lenora Zenzalai Helm, Mark Gross, Antonio Hart and Orbert Davis.” He also teaches hs kids for Jazz Arts  Project. His quintet includes wallace roney, jr. who takes afer his great dad on trumpet.

“Wallace Roney Jr. found his passion for the trumpet at an early age. Inspired by legendary players like Miles Davis, Kenny Dorham, Freddie Hubbard, Woody Shaw, and Lee Morgan, he quickly developed an intense love for the craft. At just 10 years old, his dedication to learning harmony and his eagerness to play led his father to gift him his very first trumpet—a moment that would set the stage for his musical journey.

Since then, Wallace Roney Jr. has graced stages alongside jazz luminaries such as Chick Corea, Jimmy Heath, Lenny White, Buster Williams, and the late Ornette Coleman. A proud graduate of the prestigious Oberlin Conservatory of Music, he continues to captivate audiences at venues across the U.S. and around the globe. Today, Roney Jr. is one of the most sought-after trumpeters in the New York jazz scene, known for his dynamic performances and deep understanding of the genre.”
